Steps

I have clipped a pedometer to my rucksack for this trip steps today 24500.
Not a bad days walk - starting at the Irish Sea, we have followed the cliffs, then cut inland through some small villages, meadows, woodland and used some disused railway lines that are now cycle way/footpaths. The day finished with a climb up onto Dent Fell then down to a valley walk into Ennerdale Bridge - passing a stone circle on the way.
A note for any one else coming this way on the final walk into Ennerdale Bridge as you cross the cattle grid look out for the off road path on the left - it is impossible to walk along the road into the village.
So tonight we are staying in the Fox and Hounds pub. Excellent food, good real ales, really great owners & staff. When we stayed there was free wifi internet access (ask for the code) but no Orange or T-Mobile phone signals.
We are just in the Lake District National Park - and poised to set off tomorrow down the Ennerdale Valley to our first high fells and peaks of the journey.
