This was how yesterday (Sat) started, sadly it didn’t stay like this for long. By 11am the heavens opened and neved stopped for the remaining 16 of our 20 miles. All this water is not good for taking photos and tommorow looks no better with 60mph wind gusts as we trek on to the highest pub in England.

Climbing Helvellyn – Thursday
Some of these entries will be out of order as it has been two days since I have had a reliable connection.
The route we worked out for our C2C walk included a big peak. Unfortunately the weather was not great. Cloudy, very cold and very windy. We chose to come down on Swirral Edge and as we dropped off the summit the weather started to improve and we end the day walking into Patterdale in a beautiful summers evening.
Saturday morning
Got a good start this morning unlike the previous days no big climbs today. A twenty mile jaunt across the moors to Kirby Stephens with gentle ups and downs.
A grey day but ideal for keeping to the schedule.
The photo shows the view back to the Lake District where we came through yesterday.

A better day
The view is Haweswater this afternoon. It’s been hard to blog the last few days because of poor signal quality so last few entries from me may be out of sequence. We have reached Shap which is officially is in civilisation! Hard day in prospect, 10 hrs minimum walking, and with the sore legs and feet may well become 12 hours. We are now out of the Lake District and before us the Yorkshire Dale. Maybe we will have to blog sometime tommorow. Messages of support have been very welcome, keep them coming.
Swirral edge on Helvellyn
Yes we really went down this way.
I should have brought my bike
Our first bit of sculpture. RW so impressed he needed to sit down. Obviously a while ago due to lack of signal, so this was on day 1.

After last nights rain
Passed this on the way to Watendlath near yew crags.
Sog rather than blog
Armboth fell near shivey knott. Deep joy, lots of wet blog to get through. I managed to over top my boots several times. Not fun.
