Your Domain Name?

Ever got fed up with those ‘phishing’ emails which offer you your own domain name for renewal when you know you don’t normally deal with those people?

Worse still, have you ever lost a domain name because you were not warned that the registration period was about to expire?  Then you found that your main competitor grabbed it and pointed it to their own website?

Well, from the beginning of May this year you will be able to register domain names ending .uk for up to ten years at a time.  Of course, you can stick to the normal two years if you want, but if you plan to be in business for ten years it makes sense to grab and secure the domain name you want and then stop worrying about it!

The other thing you’ll be able to do is renew whenever you like for up to ten years, instead of having to wait until the renewal date.  So you could do all your domain names at the same time, and get it all out of the way.

A major benefit of this will be for search engine optimization, as domains with a long history do better.

It’s Nominet that has made the changes.  Nominet is the organization that manages .uk domain names.  They will probably make some changes to their pricing, which may affect the price we charge, but as we offer additional services within our hosting and support package, we don’t expect any nasty surprises for our customers.
