Network Rebuild

This week I have been installing a new small office network in Scunthorpe. Up until now they have just been using their pc’s individually andNot sharing resources and information. I have put in some extra network connections and a NAS drive that is backed up to our secure data protection system. This way if there is a fire their data is safe. The unit is capable of running webdav which can be used for remote access. I have also shared their printer on the network so they can all print centrally without a computer being switched on.

The NAS box is capable of providing different access level for each user making it ideal in a shared environment where a manager may want to keep some secure information in the network.

Another benefit of the NAS we provide is that it has two hard drives which always mirror each other so if one breaks down the other still has all the data safely stored on it (a mirror RAID for those more technical people reading this). I have configured this NAS box to email Octagon to report it’s operational “health”. The email account it sends the email to is monitored daily by us, so we will know immediately if there is an issue so we can respond.
