Outlook – good or not good?

Most of us have a love-hate relationship with email. Usually you get your work done and your email is responsive and reliable, but occasionally Outlook can offer you a truly stressful morning. It’s true, but it typically happens when you are in a rush and there are still many more emails to be read and sent, and it looks like you are not doing any work this morning because Outlook refuses to start and is throwing up messages.

Don’t get me wrong – Outlook is a great tool – email, calendar, contacts, notes, there are versions for all your devices, you can move Windows 10 post it notes into it, and so on. But from time to time it has a bad day too!

Since Lockdown, your email has become a key success factor and problems with it are not welcome, but what can you do – it is technology after all and sometimes it can go wrong. Office apps sometimes get confused or simply update incorrectly and occasionally need to be “poked” so that they function as they should.

So, although it was one of those bad mornings with Outlook don’t think bad things about it. It usually works effectively; it organises your assets, plays nicely with SharePoint, offers integrated task and calendar and it has pretty good security too.

Quick advice:

If you find yourself with problematic apps, a good first step is always to restart the computer. If the problem continues, reinstall the program if you can. With regard to Outlook there are some steps you can follow using its built in tools. Call us and we will talk you through a solution! Generally, Outlook integrates well with Octagon Technology so you will be back to work before you know it.

I know technology can be frustrating, but this is why we are here, offering you a helping hand – so don’t hesitate and let us know if you need our help.
