Communication in I.T.

Do you ever think about your I.T?

Communication with computers

Many companies don’t consider communication with theIr I.T. supplier to be a major part of their organisation until something goes wrong and suddenly a solution becomes urgent.

Planning ahead

It is important to plan ahead for your I.T. and Cyber Security requirements, especially in the current climate. Make sure you have an I.T. budget that is appropriate for the size of your company and try to prepare for future costs. For instance most PCs now have a lifespan of around three years and a server around five years.

Questions to ask at a review

  • Would it be beneficial for you to move to the latest cloud based tech?
  • Have you got the best defences and training in place for Cyber Security?
  • When should we replace the PCs? (Should there be a rolling program?)
  • Are all our files backed up including the website, email etc?
  • Do we have an incident response plan?
  • What are the risks?
  • What is our plan for growth?

Common sense – good communication

When hiring someone in to your organisation make sure they have access to only what is needed initially and build from that. Inform your I.T. department or company as soon as possible when you are recruiting. It is even more important to inform your I.T. when someone is leaving, be it under a cloud or agreed. This can be a serious security DANGER!
