The importance of a good antivirus package cannot be overstated. With ever-evolving threats and new avenues of attack, there is a significant risk of data loss, fraud, and possibly the cessation of your business entirely.
While Anti-Virus is crucial, it is not a complete solution. Think of it like a popular brand of surface cleaner that kills 99.9% of germs; the remaining 0.1% is still enough to ruin your day.
Paid or free?
As a business you should consider that a paid version of a product is going to be better than a free alternative. They keep track of more threats and your insurance company will usually insist on you having a centrally managed solution which can report back and be actively monitored to avoid virus’s spreading both inside and outside your organisation. If your organisation is enrolled in cyber essentials then this is a requirement.

Although you may now have a paid for antivirus solution, how do you make sure it is up to date? RMM can help manage this as it keeps track of the monitoring side and also makes sure your operating system is up to date with the latest patches. Additionally RMM can add to your antivirus as once it detects malicious network activity it can terminate the network connection, inform your I.T. provider and you may not lose as much data as you would have done without it especially when it comes to Ransomware encrypting your files!
